June 2017 Newsletter

Greetings Goods Vendors,

As we gear up for the final weeks of Q2, I have a few exciting Groupon updates to share with you! Company goals for 2017 have been focused on improving gross profit. As a result, overall gross profits are up year over year. Improvements made to the site landing page have led to higher conversions, and our mobile touch checkout process has undergone changes that have made it faster and more profitable. Groupon is gaining more customers and investing back in the company for long-term growth. See the attached Groupon public fact sheet for more information.

Here in Goods, we’ve already made strides towards achieving our 2017 goals with initiatives to increase customer retention and improve customer experience. Product ratings and refund rates have improved (see Ratings, Reviews and Product Quality below). Shipping cycle times have also improved under programs like Hybrid fulfillment and Delivery estimates. We’ve seen fantastic YTD growth in categories like Health & Beauty, Home, Hardlines, Consumer Electronics, and Softlines. We’ll be continuing to focus on attracting and retaining customers, creating smarter pricing and promotion tools, further reducing refunds, and making improvements to our platform and site relevance.

Gateway Updates

Pre-Migration/Onboarding

A quick reminder to drop ship vendors who are currently in the Gateway pre-migration or onboarding processes- we want to make sure you’re being directed to the correct resources for your needs. See below for a go-to guide to the best point-of-contact based on where you are in these processes.

If you haven’t yet heard from our pre-migration team regarding the documentation needed to create your Gateway account, your business isn’t beginning the Gateway transition yet. We’ll be reaching out shortly! Goods drop ship vendors will continue to be onboarded to Gateway through Q3 of this year. To ensure you receive all Gateway transition-related communications, please add goods-gatewaysetup@groupon.com and goods-supplier-relations@groupon.com to your address book.

If you…

  • ...have successfully accessed your Gateway account and have a question or problem

  • ...need your Gateway login credentials or need to add users to your Gateway account, but you’ve completed all other documentation needed for Gateway onboarding

POINT-OF-CONTACT: Vendor Helpdesk

If you...

  • ...aren't sure of your Gateway onboarding status

  • ...you have not provided the documentation needed for Gateway account creation

POINT-OF-CONTACT: goods-gatewaysetup@groupon.com.

Gateway Training

Vendors currently in Gateway can now access a series of interactive in-platform training walkthroughs on a variety of subjects. Access the training menu by logging into Gateway and navigating to the bottom right-hand corner of your screen:

Commerce Interface & Gateway

If you received an email with a date when drop-ship deal creation will be cut-off in your Commerce Interface account, you MUST take the recommended actions to ensure your business has access to Gateway by the cut-off date. If we can't reach you by this date, a Gateway account will be created for your business with the account info we currently have on file, and our team will proceed with the access changes for your Commerce Interface account.

A reminder that deals from Commerce Interface do not automatically transfer into Gateway. Once you access your Gateway account, all new dropship deals must be created in Gateway. Any currently live deals originally created in Commerce Interface will continue to be live on that platform until they end, at which point they will need to be re-created in Gateway. If you have questions about deals in CI and Gateway, please submit a Vendor Helpdesk Ticket.

Gateway Documentation: FCPA

All vendors must complete the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act questionnaire via the EchoSign link emailed during the Gateway pre-migration process. Documents that have been saved as .pdf files and emailed back to our pre-migration team instead of completed via EchoSign cannot be accepted. Your acknowledgment of the FCPA keeps us in compliance with federal mandates, and if we do not have this documentation on file for your business, deals may be blocked from creation. Once again, thank you all for your patience and cooperation during this process!

Groupon + Living Social

A quick reminder that Groupon and LivingSocial have joined forces and your existing Goods features will launch on LivingSocial on Sunday, June 11. Deals will continue to run on Goods, giving your products exposure on both sites. All units sold will draw from available inventory under your existing vendor agreement with Groupon, no matter which platform customers purchase on. There is no action whatsoever required from you or your staff. This change will not affect any of your back end operations or fulfillment obligations, and you’ll continue to receive one invoice. If you have any questions, please submit a Vendor Helpdesk Ticket

Ratings, Reviews, and Product Quality

In an effort to improve customer trust and reduce refunds, Goods is placing an increased focus on product quality, ratings, and reviews. We actively monitor customer feedback on deals and take action if we notice complaints or issues. Actions could include de-boosting deals, pausing temporarily to resolve issues and update content, even permanent takedowns. Additionally, the average rating of a deal is a significant factor in determining deal placement on search and browse pages. Higher rated deals are placed higher on the site, leading to more traffic and sales. Quality matters!

Our average product rating has improved significantly in recent months and we thank our vendors for their dedication and focus. Be on the lookout in the coming months for new features within Gateway that will make it even easier for you to monitor customer feedback and manage the quality of your deals.

Ops Initiatives & Product Development Updates

Updated Canada Returns Warehouse Shipping Address
There is a new address for our Canada returns warehouse. Dropshippers should now use the following return shipping address on shipping labels:

1001 Petrolia Rd
North York, ON M3J 2X7

Express Delivery

Goods launched Express Delivery with select drop ship Groupon paid parcel vendors on 5/22. Customers can now choose express shipping options on deals for these vendors. The express shipping feature will continue to test on the site and will progressively launch to all Goods deals throughout Q2 and Q3. In the meantime, we need vendors to prepare for shipping express orders with a faster turnaround time. Look for more info in the coming months! If you want to participate in the Express Delivery program, you must also participate in Delivery Estimates. If you have questions about your eligibility, please reach out to your account manager or email vendorops@groupon.com.

Gateway Platform Changes

Vendors now have the ability to upload image files directly to Gateway instead of having to provide image URLs. This change will streamline deal creation for Gateway users.
