Here at Groupon Goods, we always want you to feel comfortable when reaching out to your primary business partners. We recently introduced you to your Account Management team, and this week we'd like to introduce you to your Buying team and let them share a little bit about themselves. The Buyers are your primary contacts for product planning and promotions, deal content and contract negotiations. Feel free to reach out with any questions you have!
How long have you been a Buyer with Groupon Goods?
Christina Goodrich: I’ve been with Groupon for 5 fabulous years!
Sydney Morris: I’ve been here for over 2 years and 8 months.
Taylor Suglia: A little over 2 years!
Dana Futris: 3 ½ Years
What product categories does your team cover?
Christina Goodrich: I buy cell phones, smartwatches and miscellaneous accessories which includes travel electronic organizers, bluetooth trackers, camera lenses, cleaning kits, selfie sticks, phone fans, and VR/AR. I’m always looking for new and fun conversation-starter items, so reach out if you have something!
Sydney Morris: I buy cables, chargers, adapters, power banks, wireless chargers, phone cases, cable neck protection (i.e. Cable Bites), mono bluetooth headsets, and communication radios/walkie talkies.
Taylor Suglia: I buy smartwatch accessories which includes smartwatch bands, smartwatch chargers & stands, and band charms. I also handle screen protectors and mounts (table top or back of phone, but not car mounts!).
Dana Futris: I handle DSLR Cameras, Action Cameras, Point & Shoot cameras, film & memory, camera accessories, lenses & optics, screen protectors, mobile miscellaneous accessories (trackers, cable organizers, cleaning, etc), dash & back up cameras, GPS and radar detectors.
What does a buyer do in the course of the day?
As a buyer at Groupon, every day is different! We balance our day between procuring inventory for top selling product, contracting & featuring new deals, and working with vendors to source and promote new products. We also split our time between weekly meetings working with cross functional teams to push initiatives and develop new strategies to increase sales. We are constantly researching emerging industry trends and keeping an eye on whether our assortment reflects those findings.
When should vendors contact their buyer?
We are all about driving sales and creating the best & most exciting assortment that we can. We love to discuss strategy to move the business forward with new brands & products, or the various marketing opportunities that Groupon has to offer. We are also your go-to people for deal maintenance like adding new hero images, offering additional inventory, or cost moves.
For other issues not listed above, please reach out to the correct team. Any payment issues need to be addressed via support ticket with our Accounts Payable Team. Logistic hiccups with shipping or issues uploading tracking can be addressed by your Account Management Team. For questions about chargebacks, please work with your designated Compliance contact.
What is your favorite thing about being a buyer?
Christina Goodrich: I love having full creative control and pushing the boundaries of our assortments. Weird, funky and cool items do well and our imagination is endless in these categories. After shooting for the stars and landing on the moon, we are all about finding the right partners to keep that magic going.
Sydney Morris: I love that as a buyer you get to create an assortment that fits your customers wants and needs! You get to see so many different products and ultimately get to choose what fits your customer’s personality.
Taylor Suglia: The product! I love finding the next up & coming item or trend for our customers and providing them with the best assortment on Groupon.
Dana Futris: I love coming into work because there is always something different and exciting happening. I also enjoy working closely with the vendors to source new fun products to list on Groupon!
What is your favorite thing about working with Goods vendors?
Christina Goodrich: I have a blast working with vendors on strategy and new product creation. Let’s share industry data and market trends so we can lay a successful path on our way to eCommerce glory!
Sydney Morris: I really enjoy the process of partnering to provide the very best deals!
Taylor Suglia: I love how passionate our vendors are about their product on the Groupon platform and I love collaborating together to provide the best customer experience that we can.
